Question Brakes are siezing

Hi, I have a 2005 Envoy XLE...my brakes seized so I changed the calipers and brake pads...still after about 15 minutes of driving, they started to seize again! So I changed the rotors. Let me add that to bring the vehicle home the second time they seized I drove a couple of miles and then wet down the brakes, this helped a lot and stopped the seizing for the moment which is where I came up with the idea to change the rotors, I figured they were expanding due to the friction....but this is still happening...any thoughts?

First, welcome to the forum. You didn't mention whether this is the front brakes or the rear brakes that are seizing. If it is the front, I can't see why they would be seizing. I would have instantly gone to the sliders in the calipers, but if you replaced them, then that is not the case

If it is the rears that are seizing, have you checked the e-brake shoes inside the rotor? If they are sticking on, they will heat your rotors in the rear up quickly and could cause it to appear that the pads or rotors are the problem.

Good luck in getting it figured out. Let us know how you make out.

It could very possibly be a bad master cylinder/brake booster.

Be careful as you dont want to warp the new rotors!

It was the front brakes. The issue seems to have resolved itself, drove it all week and didn't have the problem occur again, all the same I found a post that stated they had a similar issue and it was the brake hose cracked on the inside so to be on the safe side I will replace that this weekend.

Update to this 6/30

Well, after replacing just about everything, we caved in and took it to a brake place....turns out there is oil (????) in my line, according to the tech, this could have happened at any point from vehicle purchase from original owner, we know it didn't happen with us as we've never had to refill the brake fluid or do anything with the brakes since we purchased and we know the difference between oil and brake fluid. Anyway, we will try flushing the entire system and replacing master cylinder and see where this leaves us!

I think you might need some new brake shoes, it 's good time to look at the rear pads too.So buy all these stuff and use carefully.

Inspect the caliper on disc brakes first. Remove the caliper bolts and pry the caliper off the rotor and pads using a pry bar. If the caliper comes off hard without the brakes being applied, a caliper piston is most likely to blame. To check the piston, secure the caliper to the vehicle with a caliper hook. Remove the pads if they are clipped to the caliper. Inspect the pads. A clear indication of stuck brakes is premature wear of brake pads. Compress the piston of the caliper with a caliper piston tool. A large C-clamp would work as well. If the caliper piston does not retract back into the bore, it has seized and needs to be replaced. Replace the caliper and bleed the hydraulic braking system.

Not the power steering, if it's all brake's it's a faulty master cylinder.
