Default Rear deflector on back gate

We were just on vacation and had the plastic part about the rear gate come off. It hold the center brake light. Looks like the plastic clips that hold it on ...broke...I was able to duct tape in back on...but now want to replace it. Took it completely off today to find gmc part numbers....found 3 numbers

15176960
15000045....light
15172714

Have try finding these parts on the GMC parts sites...but none come back as
identified part numbers.

Any help would be appreciated.

The first thing to be said about Tailgate Deflectors is they are not Spoilers or Wings. Though almost identical in kind and shape they are not designed to improve handling and/or speed of an automobile though they may add support. They are more functional to the maintenance and protection of a car than the vehicles performance.

Tailgate Deflectors are most common on SUV's and Crossover vehicles. They come in both plastic and metal though less common. They are designed to help the wind pass over your vehicle to reduce resistance which some say help on gas mileage. They are best used for helping the dust and dirty road particles from getting stuck on the rear windshield by providing an air path which extends past the back of the vehicle's rear windshield or tailgate curvature. They also help reducing the rainfall over the rear window, by acting as a ledge that extends past the down slope of the tailgate. This is especially useful if you do not have a rear window wiper blade. This keeps your vehicle clean and your line of sight unobstructed by the sticky, dirty film we all are very familiar with.

I just recently joined to research a problem with the rear hatch. The top plasitc piece seems to have buckled and now prevents the hatch from opening completely. The outer sides of the piece fit underneath the roof edge as it was designed to do. But, the middle buckled up and catches on the roof's edge.

Is there a simple solution to the problem, or is this something I need to take into a body shop or dealer? Thanks

Tailgate Deflectors are mounted on the roof at the very rear of the vehicle. They are normally installed using adhesive tape, or mounted by drilling into the roof using a template included into the kit. Drilling is always the largest concern in regards to installation, as any hole leading to the interior infrastructure of your vehicle could be detrimental if not properly sealed or corrected. If drilled in error, it can lead to rust and excessive water and moisture damage. This is still a concern for places of high sun and little rain as metal and plastic tend to condensate and moisture will gather during temperature changes.

Once the holes are drilled the 2-8 screws (depending on the designed) are screwed up through the opened lift gate and through the deflector. Washers will be slide down between the roof and deflector. Tighten down the nuts and away you go.
