Where is the Coolant temp. sensor at. My wife got into an accident & wiped out the whole front end. Since then the check engine light has been on & showing a code for that sensor. I got the sensor just can't find it. HELP!!
Okay, found it. This is not pretty by any stretch of the imagination. The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor is screwed into the engine block, and serves a multitude of functions. If you are standing in front of the truck, it is on the right hand side of the block, in behind the alternator.
To replace it, the engine must be stone cold. Drain the cooling system, and disconnect the electrical harness. Next, you have to remove the alternator to get at it. Once the alternator is out of the way, you will have full access to unscrew the old ECT and replace it with the new. Reverse to install.
