When starting vehicle the voltmeter immediately goes to 9 volts. I understand that there is a time delay built into the alternator before it increases to 14+ volts. How long should this time delay be? Mine is never consistent and appears to be just at 14v. It seems that the problem is getting worse. I have changed the battery and had new brushes installed in the alternator(the old ones weren't even worn out). Anyone else notice this or consider this a problem? Had other gm and chevy products before and havn't notice this.
I'm having the same issue with a 04 Envoy. Just started noticing the volt meter was reading 9 volts versus the normal 14. Have had the alternator tested in and out of vehicle and battery is fine. Did you ever get your problem solved?
