Lately, every morning the smell of gas comes through the vents. Especially during the cold evenings and I mean the fresh smell of gas.

Took it to the shop and they could not find anything wrong. Anyone may have a hint of what could be wrong?

I would be curious myself, as I have started smelling gas as of late. I chalked it up to excess fumes being vented. I looked underneath and couldn't see any leaks, so I just crossed my fingers and kept on going.

I know I had a similar problem, when you click in that last few cents of gas. It flows up to the evap canister and sits there until it dries out. Sometimes it will damage the canister. The canisters job is to collect fumes from the tank and use them on start up (emissions thing), BUT if it gets fuel in it, it'll stink for a while, also check to see if the canister is cracked.

I received a notice from GM earlier this week stating that in some states
there's a problem (I don't have the notice with me, so I'm kind of ad-libbing)
with the gas tank or line deteriorating. It says to have it repaired and
apply for reimbursement. In other words, they'll deal with the issue
individually as they arise. The notice said if the vehicle is in need of
this fix, that you'll smell gasoline.
