The window motor on my 98 Envoy just took a crap on me. I took the door apart and found that it's RIVITED into place, not bolted, like any intelligent designer would have it.

I am a very DIY kind of person, so I'd like to know how to remove and replace the motor myself. I can get a new motor for $60.

Any help is appreciated.

I had to do this on my 98 Pontiac Grand Am. The only way to get it out is to drill out the rivet, and then replace the motor using a nut and bolt (the way it should have been designed)

I went ahead and bought the new window motor. I drilled out the old rivets and leftthe remnants from two of them in, since I couldn't remove them, I used the to stabilize the motor and put one new rivet in. Didn't have time to go find the right size and length bolt.

But, the windows works wonderfully now. Now I can wash my damn truck again, LOL!
