Default Low Beam issues

I see there isn't another post on here about this subject. I am curious now if its an isolated incident but I have herd otherwise.

I had a low beam light go out on me. Bought some Sylvania 9006's and went to replace the bulb. Come to find out the bulb wasn't burnout but the harness was fried. The positive electrode was chared and melted the harness on that side. Thought nothing of it, figured water must have gotten into the light assembly and shorted the circuit. Was still curious why the other light worked and it didn't trip the fuse with the harness looking the way it did.

I bought a new harness, $30 from a GM dealer, and replaced it. Light worked, nice and bright! Went to replace the other low beam and found the same thing, melted harness but at least the light still worked. So, I left that one be, didn't want to waste a $30 light to only get plastic melted into it from the harness and lose its contact.

While doing all this I could smell something burning from the light assembly. Figured it was the new bulb but the other side had the same smell. The wires of the harness feel hot also.

The new harnes and bulb is working well, very bright; but the other side is much dimmer.

Very very interesting issue. Seems also as though there is a voltage issue being fed to the low beams only. Plan on doing some more research here but would like any input into the matter if anyone has experienced with this issue or would know where the culprit lies. Rather not have to keep on replacing harnesses as that is expensive and being that this isn't tripping a fuse I am worried about a fire. This probably has been going on for a while and only finally surfaced itself through a head light out. :S

You do have an interesting issue, not sure on your model/year check your relays, depending if you have the "Door Lock Alert", the headlamps come on for 20 sec, or longer when activated. If you have the "Driver Information Center" (DIC) try changing your settings, but you still have a issue with the wiring, good luck

Thanks for the reply 07 Cdn but I am having trouble seeing the correlation with how that circuit would produce this issue. I was able to get my hand on a GM dealership wiring schematic for the headlamp assembly and there isn't much between the headlamps and the battery. these one relay, but if a relay were to fail it would result in no current being allowed through. Not much to a relay other than allow current to flow or not. Not that long after the first headlamp went out the other did too. Went to Advanced Autoparts and got a harness for $3 this time! Everything worked great until a new issue surfaced.

Unfortunately, there is a little bit more information about this problem on the internet but as to how to fix it idk and haven't found an answer yet. This week I first started experiencing flickering headlights while braking or slow speed accelerations but later the issue occured at steady speed. First it was just flickering in the headlamps but I did catch a more servere flicker that affected the dash lights as well. The voltage gauge was jumping around between 14v-14.4v, which is about normal operating voltage but the odd part was that the needle moved around an aweful lot.

I did experience a severe flicker in the past, never happened again till now. And now with both of these two issues involving the same circuit I am starting to wonder if there is a correlation. The most logical culprit seems to be the voltage regulator on the the alternator, but if that isn't the issue this problem will become a money sink! Hope no one else has headlamp issues because so far I see nothing but bad news for these ppl. Hundred of ppl have already filed complaints about it and GM is only turning a deaf ear to us about this. They finally did acknoledge that there was an issue but have not provided any information as to what the issue is. I suspect a class action lawsuit if the problem isn't fixed.

Oh and my vehicle is a 2004 Envoy SLE, 85000 miles.

Default Flickering HEADLAMP

One of my headlamps flickers when I use the remote to open the doors. It will continue in the same manner, sometimes, while driving. However, the problem stops when I change the headlamp switch to the manual position from automatic-on. Therefore I am thinking that a sensor is the problem and not the lamp or wiring.

Vehicle is 2002 SLT 2WD

I appreciate an solutions offered.

I have received the rolex replica. You said it is perfect in quality, but it didn't work here. Why?"Jack replied soon "Dear John, I am so sorry to hear that. Also please be patient , because of time difference,It's at night in Vietnam now, the watch is sleeping ."
